Kitchen Renovation on a Budget

Painting kitchen cabinets

Renewing your kitchen cabinets is one of the most effective ways to give your kitchen a fast and cost effective makeover.  When done well, the result can be truly transformational to, not just the cabinets, but the entire kitchen.  You’ll save a bundle over getting new cabinets, or even just getting new doors.

I’ll tell you a little more about the kitchen cabinet makeover project you’re seeing here in the photos….

Here is a “Before” shot of the kitchen and the cabinets before our makeover…

This is what the kitchen looked like before our re-do. Yes, these are the same cabinets – we refinished them (the correct way!) and added new, modern hardware

This is one of the recent kitchens makeovers we did where budget was an issue, so installing new cabinets was not an option.

The greatest compliment was when a seasoned professional cabinet maker visited the home and remarked how very impressed he was with the quality of work on the cabinets.

The cabinets had been oak. Not just oak, but dirty, drab oak.  They had definitely seen better days and were looking pretty tired and worn.

How to Paint Kitchen Cabinets

In their previous life (before we did our magic on them), these cabinets had really awful hardware, in a really awful location – smack, dab in the center of the doors.  Kitchen cabinet painting

We took care of re-positioning the holes for the hardware, and selected some very up-to-date, contemporary brushed nickel pulls to complete the transformation.

After the painstaking work refinishing the cabinets was done, we also installed brand new black granite counter tops to really make this kitchen pop.

We also repainted the main floor (kitchen, dining room and living room) in colors that complimented the kitchen re-do, and we selected and installed the beautiful red-toned laminated wood tiles. They look a lot like cork, but they were indeed wood laminate.  The clients tell us they have received many, many compliments on their new kitchen.

And with our help, they didn’t have to break the bank to get the kitchen they love 🙂
